Vodafone DIT Young Designer of the Year 2014

And the winner is…..DIT Fashion Show Final

Young Designer from Sligo wins the student design award at the Vodafone DIT Fashion Show in Vicar Street

I attended the final of the DIT Fashion Show last week with one of the Artistic Team here at Emma Farrell Makeup: Lisa Redmond. Lisa will be introduced to your properly later this week. I was delighted to see Patricia Carroll a student in NCAD walk away with the top prize.  Her design was inspired by weeping willow trees, “The natural manner of this particular tree is quite fascinating, as it has an extreme elegance, yet sombre appearance, which is depicted from the curtains of drooping branches which sweep the ground. I set out to translate these fascinating aspects into an outfit.”  It really was a stand out piece and I think the win was well deserved. The attention to detail and the precision of her cut was phenomenal.

It was quite the star studded event, Brendan Courtney and So Sue Me hosted the night and I spotted many big names in the fashion industry including Holly Carpenter, Maria Fusco, Bairbre Power, Jules Fallon, Umit Kutluk and Thalia Heffernan.  Most stylish on the night went to the lovely Rebecca from Haute So Fabulous who I had just met the week before at another Fashion event, so big congrats there!

Hair and Makeup on the night were by Makeup Forever and Toni & Guy respectively. You can see some images from the night on my Instagram account which is makeup_emma if you aren’t following me already.
