Hello Ladies [and gents, although I really don’t think any men read my blog…if you do speak now :-)],
So this week brings the annual Dublin Fashion Festival’s fourth year in Dublin’s city centre.
I was invited to the launch of the festival a couple of weeks ago. It was a great evening of fashion shows and I got to catch up with some of my fashion buddies! It was a star studded event with lots of local Irish Celebrities and Fashionistas. Laura Whitmore was the host of the night and really set the atmosphere for the festival.
The event was hosted in the Dublin Tourist Office, which I have to say is a fantastic venue for an event. It is the perfect mix of old and modern architecture. The only downside was that it was extremely hot and humid. It was back when the weather was really good and there were those crazy flash floods! There were a few people absolutely soaked to the bone!
First options put on a fashion show using the clothes from the local shops Awear, Dunnes Stores and Brown Thomas. There was quite an eclectic mix on display, which really showcased what fashion we have on our doorstep.
Sorry for the blurry pictures, but those models move fast! My poor phone couldn’t keep up 🙂 There were delicious cocktails being served on the night by No.37 Dawson Street, I have to say I was really impressed with my Mojito and will be swinging by there sometime soon!
So what is the Dublin Fashion Festival you ask, it is an annual shopping event which takes place over four days each year and is aimed at getting footfall and shoppers back into the heart of the city. It is a fantastic way to celebrate and focus on what Dublin has to offer. There are over 250 retailers, restaurants, bars and hotels taking part in the event and during the period of 5th to the 8th of September we will see fashion and beauty retailers in the city centre together offering a mix of in-store activities special offers and live fashion events.
If nothing else this is a fantastic excuse to get out those credit cards and indulge in some guilt free economy boosting purchases 🙂 Check out http://dff.ie/event-guide/ for the lowdown on what is happening. What do you think you might check out?
Lots of love,
