How to achieve a flawless, dewy skin finish

By | Beauty Lowdown, MAC Cosmetics, Nars, Orlaith Shore, The Team | No Comments

dewy skin makeupI’m not sure if it’s confidence that has come with age or just that I know more about what actually looks good makeup-wise but a light foundation with a gorgeous skin finish is all I ever look for these days. Of course with certain looks for the evening or if going for a vintage feel there is a place for an ultra matt, sculpted face but just not for my daytime. Read More

Valentinesfinal

Hello Lovelies!

So it’s that time of the year again. Pictures of bouquet of roses clutter your Facebook news feed, booking a table in your favourite restauraunt is near impossible and those of us who are single are given a sympathetic ‘are you doing anything tonight?’ question along with a head tilt. Personally I’ve never really bought into romance aspect of the day but have always enjoyed the gifts 🙂 So this year, whether you love or loathe Valentines day why not make it a day to proclaim love to yourself?! Why not spoil yourself? God knows you deserve it 🙂

I’ve put together a few items that I spotted to help with the romancing. These few products will be sure to have you positively glowing, Enjoy!

  1. The Body Shop Chocolate and Strawberry Shower Gel Duo, €9.95 for sweet smelling and seductively soft skin!

  2. Too Faced Sweetheart blush. A trio-color blush packed into one pretty heart.Three perfect of ultraflattering blushes allow you to either swirl the colors together and apply as a beautiful buildable finish or use more of one shade for a custom cheek colour or highlight. €33.50 in Debenhams
  3. The Body Shop Strawberry Selection Heart Tin €29.95 for strawberry delight from lips to complete body this set will leave your skin feeling super soft and sweet smelling.

  4. Nars Babydoll lip lacquer €25. This is an amazing product with a beautiful baby pink shine. Longlasting and hydrating, leaving your lips in perfect condition for some Valentines smooching 🙂

  5. And for those not quite able to meet the Nars pricetag try the Essence XXXL long lasting lip gloss in ’01 Babydoll’s favourite’. At €2.89 this is an absolute BARGAIN!
  6. Finally, I couldn’t resist some chocolates 🙂 13 gorgeous truffle milk chocolates in a great little reusable tin from Butlers, all for €6.50 – nom nom nom….

So whatever you ladies get up to this Valentines at least you’ll be glowing from tip to toe 🙂

Lots of Love,

Nars Pop Art Collection

Nars Andy Warhol Collection

Hello fellow beauty lovers!

So I am back from my whirlwind trips to London and will have some more time to get blogging again. There were just not enough hours in the day last week with weddings, tv shows, fashion shoots, awards ceremonies and a make-up competition to judge! More on all of them in other posts…

nars andy warhol portrait

I know this is a bit late in the day, but isn’t the Andy Worhol Pop Art collection from Nars absolutely gorgeous? It is on my wishlist for sure. What got me thinking about the products is this video on their Youtube page:

I love the way that brands have started to take notice of all aspects of social media and are producing informative videos, so that we can re-produce the looks from their visuals.

The Silver Factory-inspired beauty look with pops of strong blue and green really work well with the models warm skin tone. I was hoping to pick up this product when I was in London at Nars UK, but I spent waaay to much money in Charles Fox so had to be disciplined. Will post another time about what I got.

What do you think of the Nars collection? Is there anything that you fancy from it? Have you seen any good video tutorials of late that you would like to share with me?

Lots of love,

Colour Matched and Loving It!

PantoneIQ1

So you probably remember a couple of weeks ago, that I was telling you about a nifty little tool that Sephora/Pantone had release, you can see that post here. While I was on holidays I decided to pop into a Sephora store to discover if this little device, that promised so much lived up my expectations.

Sephora Pantone Setup

I was promptly seated in a special station that was set up, just for the the Colour Matching Service. The Beauty Associate, showed me all the tools and promptly explained what everything did. I unfortunately don’t have any pictures of the scanner, because we lost our camera, but luckily I had also taken a couple with my phone. There was this uber cool scanner and also this chart, which had all the various skin tones and shades listed on it. Just like we know, it ranges from Pink, Neutral to Yellow.

Sephora Color IQ: Pantone Skin Tone Grid

So she did three scans on my face. One on my forehead, one around the nose and then one on the jawline. The machine computes these three colours and then gives you one tone that will balance out the darker and lighter tones making you look even skinned and flawless! Well that is the hope.

After this they emailed me my matches, which you can see below:

After all that, I bought a foundation not on the list! I just like to be difficult 🙂 I went for a foundation that hasn’t been listed with this tool yet, I will do a review on that later.

I think that it is a fantastic tool for the consumer to get a foundation that matches their skin tone. I for one have bought enough of the wrong shades throughout the years and I am a trained make-up artist! What about you?

What do you think of this tool, would you like to see it in Ireland? I have read online that Boots now has something similar, has anyone tried that? I am interested to learn more about it. As you can see from the extensive list above, the Sephora tool recommends lots of different brands, textures and forms of foundations. This makes it a far superior tool compared to the No.7 one. It would be great to see a department store like Brown Thomas or Debenhams developing a tool like this.

Let me know what you think.

Lots of Love,

Georgia Salpa and Tara O’Farrell Creatures of the Night

By | Behind the Scene, Celebrity, Graftobian, Lancome, MAC Cosmetics, Models, Nars, Photographers, Photoshoots, PR, Rimmel, Uncatagorized | 3 Comments

As you might have seen on twitter I got to do a few Halloween makeups this year. Not as many as in previous years because I have been really busy working on The Savage Eye 3 (will post about that in the future).

I did Tara O’Farrell and Georgia Salpa’s makeup for the Creatures of the Night Photocall for Miller.

Halloween Makeup Creatures of the Night

It was a sultry scary look that compromised of a black smokey eye, blood red lips,  paired with freaky yellow contacts and vampire fangs.

Halloween Makeup Dublin Tara O'Farrell

We had hoped that it would hit one or two newspapers, but we lucked out as it made it into the Sun, Metro, Mirror and Star. We even got a front cover!

Georgia Salpa Makeup Dublin

To create the look I used:

Graftobian HD Airbrush Foundation in Dessert Sand
Contoured with a darker shade airbrush colour
MAC Skin Finish Powder in Dark for additional contouring
MAC Blacktrack Gel Liner
Nars Night Breed Eyeshadow
Rimmel Black Eyeliner on the lips
Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Red
Lancome Hypnose Mascara in Black

Make-Up Spotlight: Golden Globe Winnning Looks

1.) Cameron Diaz knows how to pull of simple sophistication.

Normally known for her healthy sunkissed skin, due to her active sporty lifestyle it seems like either she hasn’t been on holidays for a while or she is slathering on the sunscreen. I am loving her gorgeous opalescent skin tone. Keeping it very natural apart from a flash of red lippy, this look screams Hollywood sophistication. If you would like to replicate this look I would recommend the following key products:

Foundation: Vitalumiere from Chanel

2.) Ginnifer Goodwin

Ginnifer is also working a classic look with a striking winged black eyeliner. This look really suits her pixie haircut and gives her a youthful fresh feel. She has kept lips nude which helps to keep us focused on her eyes and that gorgeous Royal Blue dress. If you would like to replicate this look I would recommend the following key products:

Foundation: Diorskin Nude from Dior

Eyeliner: Black Gel Eyeliner by MAC

Lipstick: Belle de Jour by NARS

3.) January Jones

Strong eyebrows frame January’s features perfectly, I really like her lush berry lip colour which shows off her radiant smile. I read an interview with her Make-Up Artist Rachel Goodwin, who breaks down the look on talkingmakeup.com, which I will share with you here:

Beauty Inspiration & The Look: “January’s Golden Globes makeup was all about taking a fresh approach to the classic red lip.”

Beauty Tip: “I used Le Blanc de Chanel under her base to create luminous ‘glowing from the inside’ porcelain skin, then treated her lips with Chanel Hydramax + Active Lip Treatment before applying Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paris – a gorgeous garnet red from a new lipstick line launching in March. I painted the finest black line on her upper lid with Chanel Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir and shaded under her eyes with Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in Graphite in the outer corners. I finished her look by layering lots of different false eyelashes then added Exceptionnel de Chanel Noir Obscur Mascara over the top for an intense black lash line.”
