With wedding season in full swing and my fair share to attend I have started to put some very quick checklists together to ensure that nothing gets left behind on my way out the door. These days weddings are no longer made to fit a mold nor as traditional as they used to be. People’s personalities are allowed to break through and create a day that is individual to them, this means that for many the comfort of a hotel is no longer always part of the picture. From glamping to self catering houses on a country estate here’s a checklist for those things you might not necessarily think of when grabbing your deodorant as you make sure the straighteners is turned off and switch on the alarm!
As you might have noticed from facebook I have been working with Hotlox Hair Extensions alot lately. Here are some behind the scenes shots of one of the looks we did. Orlaigh had got mermaid hair extensions (blue and purple pastel) which I think are so cool! Read More
I am a big Clarins fan and was really excited when I came across Clarins radiance boosting complexion base. With spring in the air I am focusing on beautiful fresh skin and bright colours so this product was right up my alley. I love to go makeup free when not working, however, sometimes your skin needs a little help when achieving that natural glow! 🙂 My skin can have quite an uneven tone to it with patches of redness so I chose the Champagne colour to start with. This is a product that can we worn alone or under makeup as a primer with an added advantage of skin care benefits including Katafray plant extract which helps in naturally boosting the skins radiance and hydrates it at the same time. The complexion is available in three different shades with 01 rose for ultimate radiance, 02 Champagne to counteract redness and 03 Peach for tanned complexions. Read More
Hello my fellow beauty babes!
I regularly get requests from followers to do a series of blogs/tutorials on iconic make up looks. With Halloween ahead I thought this could be helpful for recreating some vintage looks. There can be a lot of confusion over the different eras so I have decided it was time to distinguish between them and share how I achieve them, some of which are my favourite and the most glamorous of eras. Who better to start this series with the none other than the iconic Marylin Monroe. Read More
I find that I am always putting something on my lips, be it lipstick, lipgloss, lip stains you name it. Sometimes though your lips just need a break, the build up of all these products can leave them dehydrated and gasping for some TLC. Read More
I was sent the spring collection from Clarins, which I have been testing out for the last week or so. Although I love everything, there was one product that I really want to talk about. I do alot of wedding make-up and in the course of my work I encounter lots of different skin types. Often mother’s of the bride will have mature, somewhat dry skin that needs nourishment and care when applying makeup. So usually what we as make-up artists will try and do is add moisturiser, primer and a hydrating plumping foundation. This is perfect and does the job of helping to smooth out skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines whilst covering the obvious signs of aging like age spots, thread veins and discolouration. However with some moms, they do have the propensity to get hot and bothered on the day. So the extra stress paired with the lovely plumping hydrating foundation can end up in a bit of a mess. So in comes powder.
We know we have to use a powder, but traditional blotting powders can be to drying and other powders can accentuate wrinkles. So this is where a loose powder comes in. I light dusting over the face will help to combat any shine and keep the makeup on from the early hours until bed time.
I have been testing out this Loose Mineral Powder and I am delighted at it’s ultra fine lightweight finish. It is described by Clarins as a soft, comfortable texture which protects the skin against dehydration and maintains its suppleness all day long. I think this description is spot on.
I love Clarins products as they are always superior in quality, the packaging is always really pretty and of late they have been making really pretty 3D and coloured patterns in the pressed powder products.
What do you think of Clarins? Are you a fan of their beauty flash balm or is there another star product that you rate?
Hope to hear back from you soon.
Lots of Love,

Nail art has really taken off in Ireland. This 3D Nail Art kit is fantastic for young and young at heart. I love this rich turquoise colour. The great price means that it is fantastic for Chris Kindles Presents.
MAC cosmetics Guilty Pleasures Pigment Gift Set €37
Every year I try and pick up one of MACs pigment gift sets as they are such good value. This one I actually picked up in the UK, so I am only guessing the price. I love the colour pay off from these products. Also as an added bonus the box makes a pretty container for holding things, I currently have my hair clips living in it. This would make a good present for a sister or friend.
The Body Shop Body Butter
They are famous for their Shea Body Butters and for good reason. These delectable creams hydrate your skin and keep you smelling fabulous. They are great for layering with your fragrance. These small pots are so handy you can pop them in your handbag for moisturisation on the go. All the different flavours mean you can have a different smell 5 days a week! This is a great present for all ages.
Lancome Happy Holidays Christmas Collection 2012

There are also courses for make-up artists looking to improve their skills or learn new ones like airbrushing, fantasy, bodypainting or special effects.

Every year without fail I buy someone a Clarins gift set. I just think that they are such good value and are also superb quality products. They are a failsafe for moms, nanas or anyone who is seeing the first signs of aging and is looking for some serious results.
Butter London Lips and Tips €27
This fashion week cult brand, is the perfect gift for the girl/lady with a bit of style. These matching lipstick and nail gift sets will go down a treat. Great for a main present for your friend or colleague. Perfect as part of a few gifts for your daughter or sister.
Nima Brush Set
Every person who applies make-up needs a good brush set! There are now a few Irish companies selling great quality brushes, so you no longer have to wait a long time for them to be shipped from America and get stung for the import duty! I ordered a few brushes for a friend and they arrived the next day, so the service is excellent!
The Gift of Love (pic courtesy of contemplativejourney.blogspot.ie)
Ok so for those that hate sentimentality, switch over now! Although I love giving and receiving gifts, I do feel that there is an awful pressure on people these days to go all out and buy each other really expensive things. I have to say that the best gift of all is love. You can do this by giving up some of your time, being helpful or going the extra mile for someone. If you are feeling the pinch this Christmas, your friends and family will understand and wouldn’t want you putting yourself under undue pressure. So be inventive, you could make something or give them vouchers for a coffee date with you at a later time, the only limitation is your imagination!
I am sure that I will be speaking with you again before Christmas, so until then. Enjoy the buzz and excitement of the festive season.
Lots of love,
