Hello again fellow make-up addicts!
I am really starting to enjoy this Friday segment. I look at other make-up artists work all the time and there are so many people that inspire me all over the world. It is great that I am now able to share people’s work with you and hopefully introduce you to great artists that you too can be inspired by. This week I am taking a look at the work of Wendy Rowe.
Internationally renowned and respected in the global fashion and beauty industry, makeup artist Wendy Rowe is famed for her modern luxe makeup aesthetic. She is famous for her keen eye for detail and ability to create beautiful, flawless skin that looks real. Originally from London she now divides her time between Europe and New York. She began her career in graphic design before becoming a makeup artist, this design aesthetic is clearly seen in her work as it is precise, clean and well thought out. She has been a makeup artist for eighteen years and has a wealth of experience, working with some of the most prestigious fashion and beauty houses. From Chloë, Prada, Gucci to Cartier she is a regular at fashion week shows in London, Paris, Milan and New York.
I adore this shoot that she did for Vogue China recently with the model Lindsey Wixson, photographer Sharif Hamza, stylist Julia Von Boehm and hair stylist Shay Ashual. The idea for this shoot was a women who is angelic yet sexy, rich gold accessories styled with strong black fashion gave the look a gothic, religious feel.
Wendy was so kind as to share how she created this look on her blog Wendy Rowe which you should definitely check out. Wendy bleached Lindsey’s brows, saying that: “Although it can look quite alien in real life, bleaching brows gives the face a softer look in photographs as it takes away the strong structure lines and doesn’t restrict the eye shape.” She created a heavy, extended feline lashline to complete the look.
Below are all the products that she used:
I see that she used the Tom Ford Highlight and Contour Cream, I am dying to get my hands on this as I have heard great things about it. I also love that she used no less than 3 products on the skin. I like to mix and match my foundations as I find that some formulas work better together. This look has subtle shading and is more about the liner. Wendy shaded the eyes using Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Abstraction over the eyelid, blending up to the socket line to create a natural shadow and underneath for subtle definition. She then softly blended Laura Mercier Sateen Eye Colour in Sable into the socket line to give depth to the eyes. After this she used Dior Show Art Pen in Podium Black to define the lashline, extending slightly at the end to create a straight line that makes the lashes look heavy with a seductive feel. I think you agree that it looks so gorgeous.
I have included the behind the scenes video as well, which is a bit of fun and shows what it is like being on set of a Vogue photoshoot. Hopefully one day that will be me!
What do you think of Wendy’s work? Are you as big a fan as I am?
Lots of love,
So a couple of years ago I had started to do a “What’s in my Kit” series, but got distracted by something sparkly and never finished it. Needless to say my kit has grown substantially since then, so I guess I should probably start again. So I was thinking I would finish off where I left off and then do a current post about the ones that I had already done. Not sure if that makes any sense!
Anyway, here is goes. This is one of my make-up bags dedicated to EYES! There are three in total. I currently use a Zuca Bag and have done so for years. I love the way that it is so easy to roll around. Mine is extremely heavy though because I have so many products, so I have decanted alot of products to try and reduce the weight. More on that later….

I know I have alot of mascaras right? I am kinda on the search for the holy grail of mascaras and have been trying nearly every single one on the market. I still feel like there could be a better one out there. Any suggestions do let me know.
So what do you have in your kit? Is it similar? I would love to hear from you.
Lots of Love,
I had hoped to write this post before I went away, but it was just too hectic and I didn’t have a minute. I even had to do an all nighter before going away, so I was wrecked to say the very least and very much in need of the holiday! I had wedding trials, tv show to design, blog posts for a new blog I write for as well as some editorial for a magazine! I ended up packing at 3am and I had to be in the airport for 6.30am 🙂
So I have seen on other blogs that people showed what products they bring away with them. I love these posts and I found it really helpful when trying to plan what to bring. So here is what I brought myself. It is more skincare heavy than make-up, because I knew I was going to buy loads of make-up while away…which has turned out to be true, more on that next time.
Nuxe Creme Fraiche de Beaute – Light – This is a beautifully scented moisturiser that is not to heavy and is great for the hot weather. It is perfect for my combination skin, keeping my oily nose at bay as well as keeping the rest of my skin nourished.
Kiehl’s Lip Blam #1 – This is hands down the best lip hydrater on the planet. It soothes dry parched lips and gives them a plump feeling. When I was younger always get cold sores on holidays, because no matter what I used on my lips, they would get dry and damaged and then the blasted viral infection would attack. Well not anymore, this is my no.1 defense!
Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant Plus – I apply this before I get onto the plane to really shield my skin and keep it hydrated throughout the flight. I find the air conditioning on long haul flights can take it out of your skin. Then while on holidays I like to apply this to wet skin just after the shower.
Dermalogica Gentle Soothing Booster – Throughout the flight I will regularly apply this on my skin, it is so refreshing and has ultra-soothing botanicals that help calm and hydrate sensitized skin.
La Roche-Posay Eau Thermale Spring Water – A fantastic pick me up on a hot day, love spritzing this over my face and on my pulse points to cool me down.
Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil – I use this to remove mascara and heavy eye make-up, I then use a flannel and lukewarm water to clean my face. I will always try and get samples of products to bring away so that you aren’t carrying too much weight.
The Body Shop Mango Scrub – I always use a scrub to get rid of any dry skin as I find that it helps to make my tan last longer.
Avene Very High Protection Spray and Face Cream SPF50 – I never scrimp on your sun factor, it is just not worth getting burnt! I love Avenes products because they are not too thick, rub in really easily while still giving great protection.
Ambre Solaire Medium Protection & Aftersun – Normally will use this when I know I won’t be in the sun for long. Usually bring aftersun, just incase I get burnt, but rarely use it.
The Body Shop Mango Body Butter – I am a huge fan of layering scents. So I would usually use a number of products that compliment each other. At the moment I use quite the cocktail of fragrances. I apply this after I have a shower.
Bath and Bodyworks Midnight Pomegranate Body Spray – I spray this all over my body after the body butter.
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle – I love the fresh youthful sweetness of this perfume and it works perfectly in hot weather as it is not too heavy.
Mitchum Deodorant – I have been using this deodorant for years and it is fantastic for keeping you cool even during the hottest weather.
Head and Shoulders – I recently changed my hair care products and had quite a terrible reaction. I ended up with a rash and dry flaky scalp, so have been using this good old favourite to clear it up.
L’oreal Professional Mythic Oil – Instead of using a conditioner on holidays, I will opt for a leave in hair oil. The avocado and grape seed oil in this product help to counter act the drying effects of the sun, sea and sand!
I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did, be sure to check out the follow up to this: Holiday Makeup which is coming soon. What are your favorite products to bring on holidays? Do let me know as I love hearing from people.

1.) Cameron Diaz knows how to pull of simple sophistication.Photo courtesy of celebrity-gossip.net
Normally known for her healthy sunkissed skin, due to her active sporty lifestyle it seems like either she hasn’t been on holidays for a while or she is slathering on the sunscreen. I am loving her gorgeous opalescent skin tone. Keeping it very natural apart from a flash of red lippy, this look screams Hollywood sophistication. If you would like to replicate this look I would recommend the following key products:
Foundation: Vitalumiere from Chanel
Lipstick: Ruby Woo from MACImage courtesy of nowmagazine.co.uk
Eyeshadow: Ivory Opulence from Lancome
Eyeliner: Double Wear Black from Estee LauderImage courtesy of icnetwork.co.uk
Blush: Benetint by Benefit
Mascara: High Impact Curling Mascara by Clinique
2.) Ginnifer Goodwin

Ginnifer is also working a classic look with a striking winged black eyeliner. This look really suits her pixie haircut and gives her a youthful fresh feel. She has kept lips nude which helps to keep us focused on her eyes and that gorgeous Royal Blue dress. If you would like to replicate this look I would recommend the following key products:
Foundation: Diorskin Nude from Dior
Eyeliner: Black Gel Eyeliner by MAC
Lipstick: Belle de Jour by NARS
3.) January Jones
Strong eyebrows frame January’s features perfectly, I really like her lush berry lip colour which shows off her radiant smile. I read an interview with her Make-Up Artist Rachel Goodwin, who breaks down the look on talkingmakeup.com, which I will share with you here:
Beauty Inspiration & The Look: “January’s Golden Globes makeup was all about taking a fresh approach to the classic red lip.”
Beauty Tip: “I used Le Blanc de Chanel under her base to create luminous ‘glowing from the inside’ porcelain skin, then treated her lips with Chanel Hydramax + Active Lip Treatment before applying Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paris – a gorgeous garnet red from a new lipstick line launching in March. I painted the finest black line on her upper lid with Chanel Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir and shaded under her eyes with Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in Graphite in the outer corners. I finished her look by layering lots of different false eyelashes then added Exceptionnel de Chanel Noir Obscur Mascara over the top for an intense black lash line.”
